If you are keen to keep walking, there are many beautiful trails through some of the meadows here, where you can enjoy a gentle stroll. And for a truly special evening out, you should take the cable car to the James Bond revolving restaurant on Schilthorn, where you can enjoy the views across Switzerland, Italy, and Germany as you dine.

The following day, you will stride out on the next leg of your trip, descending through green fields populated by cows into the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

You will spend the evening in Wengen, a picturesque town that boasts stunning views of the valley. But the town also offers access to Europe’s highest railway, which will take you all the way to Jungfraujoch at 3,454 m.

When you are suitably rested, you will embark on the next stretch of your tour – an 18-mile walk to Grindelwald.

The route takes you via the Kleine Scheidegg Pass, which Goethe and Tchaikovsky have both traversed, and will enable you to get up close to the mountains of Monch and Eiger.

You will then have one day to explore Grindelwald and its surroundings – one of the best ways to while away the time is to hop on the cable car that travels to Pfingstegg, where you will find a restaurant that is perfect for a lunchtime stop.

Located at Baregg in the lower of the two glaciers at Grindelwald, you will be able to soak up the atmosphere and may even be lucky enough to spot some wildlife, such as a golden eagle or ibex.

You will conclude your walking holidays in Switzerland with one of the most stunning trails for panoramic vistas in the Alps. A gondola will take you to the starting point for your final hike and you can look forward to views across Bachsee Lake, the mountains, and the Bernese Oberland, before meeting the train at Schynige Platte to take you back to Wilderswil.
